This 2005 Ford GT is one of 4,038 examples produced, and was purchased by the original owner at a charity auction sponsored by Wendle Ford of Spokane, Washington. Now showing just 1,166 miles, this car is finished in Mark IV Red over Ebony leather and is equipped with all four options including painted racing stripes, color-matched brake calipers, forged aluminum wheels, and McIntosh audio. Regular maintenance inspections and service have been performed at Wendle Ford since new. This Ford GT is now being offered with the original window sticker, purchase documentation, full service records, factory literature and CD-ROM, two car covers, a clean Carfax, and a clean Washington title.
Ford GT aerodynamics were wind-tunnel tested to 265 mph according to Ford Motor Company white papers, however production models are governed at a top speed of 205. A front splitter and rear diffuser were incorporated, as well as a dimpled flat undertray.
Engines were hand-assembled at a dedicated facility in Romeo, Michigan and bear a plate engraved with the builders’ signatures. Cam covers are finished in Ford Engine Blue as a tribute to the original GT40. The aluminum 5.4-liter DOHC V8 is fed by a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger and is paired with a Ricardo 6-speed manual transaxle featuring a helical limited-slip differential. Factory output was 550 hp at 6,500 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm.
Cabin styling is a nod to the original GT40, including the gauge layout, toggle switches, metal transmission tunnel, and ventilation grommets in the seats.
Sparco-designed manually-adjustable bucket seats feature carbon-fiber shells and are trimmed in Ebony leather, with accommodations for racing harnesses if desired.
